This Artona coffee table was designed in the 1970s by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Maxalto, the high-end woodworking division of B&B Italia. The Artona collection was Maxalto’s first project and reflected a renewed focus on wood and craftsmanship in response to the widespread use of plastics at the time.
The table is executed in walnut and features distinctive dark inlay lines that continue from the tabletop into the legs. A connecting stretcher provides stability and reinforces the balanced, architectural character of the design. The warm walnut wood and refined finish give the table a restrained yet confident presence.
The coffee table is in very good vintage condition and works well in both modern and classic interiors.
